We enjoy a musical heritage and tradition at Good Shepherd that enriches our worship and shapes our hearts, minds and souls for God's glory and service.
The Church of the Good Shepherd is an affiliate of the Royal School of Church Music and takes to heart the RSCM motto: Psallam Spiritu et Mente (Sing with Spirit and Understanding). A significant number of choristers participate in national RSCM training courses every summer. This dynamic program helps to fulfill the parish's mission in worship and Christian education.

Recorder Consort Recorders, popular wind instruments during the 16th and 17th centuries, provided inspiration for many famous composers of church music, including Bach and Handel. The choir of instruments, as well as the ensemble of players, is called a consort. Our recorders were made by the German maker, Mollenhaur, and we are very excited about the opportunity they will provide to enrich our worship.
A group of enthusiastic parishioners meet weekly on Tuesdays from 1:00 - 2:00 PM to rehearse, and they offer music in services monthly. There are opportunities for all levels of playing ability. If you are interested in joining the consort, please contact the parish office. Reading skills are required, we can teach you the rest.
Handbells The Good Shepherd Handbell Choir is open to all in high school and older. Membership is by interview with the director. Call the parish office for more information or to make an appointment.
Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 PM
The Bell Tower and Change Ringing Change ringing originated in England in the 17th century and involves the art of ringing a set of tuned bells in a series of mathematical patterns known as methods. It is called change ringing because the bells are constantly moving or changing their positions in the order in which the bells are struck.
The bells at Good Shepherd were cast in the famous Whitechapel Foundry in London, and were installed in 2004.
Bells: 8, 11-0-14. Whitechapel, 2004. Key of G.
