Fourth Sunday of Lent – CJ

All  of us, … seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. – 2 Corinthians 3:18

When I read this scripture, I think of our unveiled faces, seeing clearly, rays of light emanating, the light of Christ shining out, each of us being perfected, as we move forward to reach full glory at the coming of Jesus. I think about my mom who just turned 90, just lost her husband of 70 years, just sold her house and moved into an assisted living place. Despite her progressing dementia, the light of Christ emanates from her face, lifting spirits of the residents and staff, simply by whistling in the hallways, stopping unexpectedly in doorways for a quick word and smile acknowledging each person. They exist. They are not forgotten. They are seen and loved.

She has lived a life of service and she is not done yet, despite the fact that things have changed. She is still being transformed from one degree of glory to the next getting ready for her glorious meeting with Jesus face to face.

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
Ev’rywhere I go, I’m gonna let it shine.
Jesus gave it to me, I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, oh let it shine.
