Wednesday, the Fourth Week of Lent – Dudley

This tightrope analogy brings to mind my 22-year-old cousin. Grace is a kinesiology major studying balance and focus. Basically her study asks if one must stare straight ahead at a fixed object to maintain balance on one foot or if balance may be maintained without a fixed focus. Surprisingly, her preliminary research is showing there is no difference.

While the scripture is clear that we must remain focused, our human frailty allows us to become distracted in so many ways. Much like a tightrope walker, we falter and lose our balance. What a gift we have been given in God’s constant love, patience, and forgiveness.
